Governments around the world are adopting and implementing policies targeting the efficient use of energy, while the EU through the Energy Efficiency Directive has set an ambitious objective to achieve a 20% cut in Europe’s annual primary energy consumption by 2020. It is widely accepted that changes in consumer behaviour can lead to important savings in energy consumption. However, the inability to understand the impact of every-day actions in energy saving and the insignificant economic and environmental benefits deriving from the actions of an individual consumer, are some of the reasons that motivation for energy-efficient behaviour wears off over time.
ViLabs provides software R&D, management, knowledge diffusion, impact assessment, innovation support and exploitation services to achieve behavioural change for energy efficiency which includes the active involvement of individual consumers in achieving strategic and personal energy efficiency goals.
Knowledge diffusion, impact assessment, innovation support and exploitation services
Towards this direction, recently, ViLabs has investigated together with the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the energy efficiency sustainability through behavioural change with the active involvement of individual consumers in achieving strategic and personal energy efficiency goals through specific awareness raising, motivation and empowerment activities.
ViLabs co-founders have been leading the dissemination and exploitation activities of the EU funded CASSANDRA project, being contracted as in-house consultants of Draxis Environmental SA.
Knowledge diffusion, innovation support and exploitation services
ViLabs co-founders have led the dissemination and exploitation activities of the EU funded project NATCONSUMERS which focused on the customer engagement in energy savings. The great achievement has been the creation of the Synergy on the human factor in the energy system among six relevant projects.
